Michael “Big Mike” Lynche

Finalist Season 9 American Idol

R&B / Pop

St. Petersburg Florida may be a hot spot for tourist but almost 250 thousand people call this centrally located gulf city home. One of those residents comes in the shape of Michael “Big Mike” Lynche. For those non American Idol viewers reading this, Lynche was the fourth place finalist on season 9 of the popular NBC television show. Stepping back to the beginning of Lynche’s life as a musician we arrive at his childhood church. Accompanied by his family and his first guitar, Lynche would mimic the motions of the bands guitarist every Sunday morning. In efforts to widen the range of young Michael’s musical tastes his mother offered him spoonfuls of Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire, and Jimi Hendrix. As a person of significant size and athleticism Lynche diverted his efforts to football, eventually yielding a scholarship to University of Central Florida. Not soon after his collegiate career his mother took ill and naturally Big Mike dropped everything to aid her recuperation. It was during this period that a special thing happened. Lynche some how formed the ability to play guitar and sing at the same time. It all began to click. Following a move to the Big Apple, Lynche auditioned for American Idol and the rest is history. Lynche largely attributes his newfound success to the love of his family and to second chances. If you are looking for an entertainer with exuberance and stage presence then this is your guy. Do not pass up this show and rely on a second chance to see him.
