For 35 years, Spyro Gyra has been one of the top jazz fusion bands in the world, selling more than 10 million albums worldwide. Their hits include “Shaker Song” and “Morning Dance”, which are still frequently heard nearly 30 years later on jazz and easy listening stations. - The name Spyro Gyra is a misspelling of Spirogyra, a genus of green algae on which Beckenstein was wrote a paper on for a college biology class.
