Tim Reynolds (Lead guitarist for Dave Matthews Band) and TR3
Funk Rock
TIM REYNOLDS’s career spans more than thirty five years as a guitarist. Known for his incredibly ability to improvise on a myriad of instruments and his command of melody, Reynolds has explored musical styles from reggae to classical.
As a youngster, Reynolds experimented with piano, acoustic guitar and the electric bass in his local church gospel band. Growing up with conservative church-going parents, Reynolds was forbidden from rock, funk and soul. After leaving his parents’ home, he began exploring these forbidden genres as well as psychedelic and progressive rock.
In the mid-1980s he formed his electric power trio, TR3 known for their fusion on rock, funk and jazz. In the 1990s he began his ongoing collaboration with Dave Matthews. TR3 disbanded in the mid 90s and Reynolds pursued a solo career.
In 2007 Reynolds met two talented musicians – bass player Mick Vaughan and drummer Dan Martier – and TR3 has been touring ever since. They released their first studio CD “Radiance” in 2007.
Reynolds is currently lead guitarist for the Dave Matthews Band and performs as one-half of the acoustic Dave Matthews-Tim Reynolds duo. He has performed on nearly all of DMB’s CDs.
