Javon Jackson

Tenor saxophonist Javon Jackson came into international prominence as a member of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. He has also toured and recorded with Elvin Jones, Freddie Hubbard, Betty Carter, Cedar Walton, Ron Carter, Donald Byrd, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Richard Davis, Bobby Hutcherson, Curtis Fuller and Stanley Turrentine.

Les McCann

Les McCann’s biggest hit, “Compared To What,” was one of the first funk songs to openly criticize the Vietnam War. It has been sampled by The Notorious B.I.G. and featured on TV shows like “Lost” and movies like “Casino.”
