Marco Benevento Trio
Contemporary Jazz
If you are in the mood for fluffy, pink, pop music then don’t look here. Marco Benevento Trio makes music that deftly dodges the minutia of mainstream music. Heavy, deep, meaningful melodies. Rolling, robust drums beats. Resonating, bawdy basslines. This is the Marco Benevento Trio. Lead by 34 year old Benevento on the ivory, this Brooklyn based Trio has trudged through the enveloping grip of the music soaked borough and come through to the other side smiling wide. “In this modern era, there are few musicians who are as innovative and limitless in their craft as Marco Benevento.” one critic boasts about the Trio. At show time, the curtains open to unveil this Frankenstein of an instrument created by Benevento himself. Stemming from his home demo mastering techniques, he decided to throw surplus guitar pick-ups and effects pedals onto his baby grand piano. The result? A sound so unique it defies description. Switching from tunes on past albums, to unheard jams from the upcoming Tigerface (Sept. 11), or even his stripped and rebuilt rendition of Amy Winehouse’s, You Know I’m No Good, the Benevento Trio has something to offer everyone. I highly recommend padding your jaw before the show, as it is sure to drop.
