Born Lisa Celeste Stroud, Simone is the daughter of musical legend and freedom fighter Nina Simone. However, she has had a successful career on her own merits including major roles in Broadway hit shows like “Rent,” “The Lion King” and “Aida.” Simone currently performs with the Rob Stoneback Big Band and one of the songs, “Child In Me,” is dedicated to Simone’s relationship with her mom.
