Christmas With Aaron Neville
Classic Soul / R&B
Born and raised in New Orleans, Aaron Neville’s music is as heavy and affecting as the thick humid air from whence he came. Like many southern singer/songwriters Neville honed his vocal prowess in the church singing gospel music. His early career, starting in 1960, came in the form of, The Neville Brothers, but he soon ventured out to birth a solo career. In 1967 his first hit, Tell It Like It Is, topped the Billboards R&B chart for 5 weeks, reached number 2 on the Hot 100 and sold over 1 million copies. In 1989 Neville teamed up with Linda Ronstadt for the album Cry Like A Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind, which resulted in the immensely popular, Don’t Know Much. Despite the tragedy of a destroyed home from Hurricane Katrina, Neville returned to his place of birth for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. His most recent album, Bring It On Home, is the culmination of his career, bringing it full circle back to the soulful gospel songs of his childhood. No matter the genre, tempo, or tone of the song, Neville corners the market on making the listener feel the essence of his words. A true voice of comfort.
