Basia is a Polish singer-songwriter known for several Latin-flavoured jazz-pop crossover hits like ”Crusing For Bruising,” “Promises,” “Time & Tide,” “Drunk On Love” and “New Day For You.”
After a 11-year break, Basia released her newest album, “It’s That Girl Again” in 2009, which draws on the rhythms and styles of Latin music, the sound of classic American soul and R&B, and the polish of ’50s and ’60s jazz.
Both her debut album, “Time And Tide” and her second release, “London Warsaw New York,” hit No.1 on the Billboard jazz charts. In addition, “London Warsaw New York” sold almost two million units and was Billboard magazine’s Top Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year.
Despite the long break (which she says was due to the death of her mom and other friends, Basia remains very popular(especially in Japan and France).
Basia possesses a wide vocal range, approximately three octaves that span from contralto to soprano tessituras.
