Sacha Boutros
CD Release Party, “SACHA, LIVE IN HAWAII.”
American Songbook, Jazz, Latin Jazz,
Bossa Nova and Beyond
Internationally acclaimed Vocalist Sacha Boutros makes her return to San Diego’s World Class Music Venue, Anthology in September and celebrates a new CD, “Live in Hawaii,” featuring LLew Mathews on the Piano (Nancy Wilson), John B. Williams on Bass (Nancy WIlson) and Gerrick King on Drums (Joe Williams)
One of the freshest and loveliest voices in jazz and No stranger to audiences from Hawaii to Japan, San Diego native and New York City transplant
Boutros recorded “Sacha Live In Hawaii,” and started her release in Hawaii in June and slowly makes her way across the ocean and America to New York then back to San Diego. Her range isn’t exclusive to languages and octaves, as audiences quickly gather. She also easily incorporates a variety of styles, from Latin Jazz, Bossa Nova, The American Songbook, Boleros, French Chansons, to French Hot Club, Bel Canto, and World Music in 7 Languages.
She can do more than woo a song to life. She can play piano and write her own music-an ability fostered since early childhood by a music-loving and musically inclined family (grandparents). “[My grandfather] taught me to sing the harmonies in church, and I later sang in the choir and show choir growing up,” Boutros related. “My grandmother was the one who introduced me to the piano. She started me with piano lessons when I was four, I had to sit on a pillow to reach the keys.”
A 2010 World Young Jazz Singers finalist, Boutros has already put out what will now be three complete CDs to represent her vast repertoire and high ambitions. “Simply Sacha,” her second CD effort – released May 28, 2008 – was hailed as a marvel by KTUH ‘s deejay Robb “Jazzbro” Peterson, and presents her interpretations (through originals and covers) in a pop-jazz blend, as an effort to expand to more audiences. Her cross-over intentions were well-received in Japan, netting a 7th-placed rating on the album charts, 1st on E-music, top 10 Jazz and Latin Jazz albums that year in the U.S./Japan, a Grammy ballot, and major use by Japanese Airlines.
Sacha has had the pleasure of performing with and opening alongside such artists as: Julio Iglesias, Marvin Hamlisch, Patti Austin, Chubby Checker, James Moody, Ann Hampton Callaway, Claudio Roditi, Red Holloway, Karrin Allyson, Terrell Stafford, Frankie Laine, Geoffrey Keezer, Chuchito Valdes, Kay Star, Patty Paige, Herb Jeffries, Jeff Goldblum, and countless other jazz greats.
