BILAL SAYEED OLIVER started his musical career in the Soulquarians, a neo soul and hip hop collective formed during the late 90s. Members of Soulquarians have included Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def and Q-Tip. In 2001, Bilal released his debut album “1st Born Second,” which featured members of the Soulquarians as well as renowned producer, Dr. Dre. The album received critical acclaim with many noting his range and ability to sing in a freeform style. Bilal also gained a sizeable following.
In 2002, Bilal contributed to the critically acclaimed Red Hot + Riot compilation benefiting AIDS awareness charities. In subsequent years, he appeared on projects by other artists while working on his follow-up album for Interscope Records. However, the album “Love for Sale” was shelved indefinitely by Interscope after the album was leaked in its entirety online. Bilal’s third album, “Airtight Revenge” was released in 2010, and was named after the struggles of dealing with the fallout from “Love for Sale,”
