Maile CD Release Party

w/ Terry Matsuoka

Pop Rock Vocalist

Read our interview with Maile about her debut album!

MAILE is an eclectic singer, offering a unique blend of pop, rock and roll, blues and jazz sounds. Inspired by her mother, at the age of three, she became determined to sing and play the ukelele. By eight, she was playing the piano and developing her talents for the start of a career. She went on to major in piano at San Diego Stage University in her early twenties. It was at this time that Maile was introduced to Tom Waits, who she remained close to throughout both of their careers.

Following her time at SDSU, Maile moved to Hollywood and became a model. She was featured in a swimsuit ad with Melanie Griffith in 1972. As Maile modeled, she also sang and acted in several television commercials. In 1976, Maile made her Hollywood film debut in Vigilante Force alongside Bernadette Peters, Kris Kristofferson, and Brad Dexter.

Eventually, Maile returned to San Diego to operate her family’s business with her brother. Since returning to the area, Maile has performed at various venues and continues to explore her passion for singing. Maile has performed at Kraken, The Hotel Del Coronado, Belly Up, and Pal Joey’s. Her latest record features old folk, country, and Hawaiian-inspired music with Peter Sprague.
