Saxophonist BONEY JAMES is a pioneer of urban jazz, which combines traditional jazz with elements of R&B and hip-hop. A three time Grammy Award nominee and Soul Train Award winner, James has sold over 3 million records His most recent release Contact spent 10 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Chart.
As a child in New Rochelle, New York, James was a Motwon fan, but when his family moved to Los Angeles, 14 year old James joined a fusion band. In 1992, James released his debut album Trust which led to his signing by Warner Brothers in 1994. The RIAA Certified Gold Records, Seduction, Sweet Thing and Body Language followed. For his 2009 album Send Your Love James created a concept album of ten seductive love songs.
In 2011 James signed to Verve Music Group and released Contact in March. The album features LeToya Lucket (of Destiny’s Child) and R&B superstars Mario and Donell Jones.
