Multi-instrumentalist Edgar Winter pioneered the use of synthesizer as a lead instrument with his 1972 No. 1 instrumental hit “Frankenstein” and then released the classic car-driving song “Free Ride” two years later. The brother of guitar legend Johnny Winter, both are known for their albinism.
