The fruit doesn’t fall from the tree – at least where Kofi Baker is concerned. Kofi, the son of Cream drummer Ginger Baker, was so impressed watching his Dad play with Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton during their 2005 reunion that he decided to start a tribute band to the mid-60s rock band. Joining Kofi is local guitar legend Mike Kenneally, who knows a bit about instrumental improvisation thanks to his work with Frank Zappa in the 1980s.
- * Besides featuring Cream classics, the band also plays Blind Faith and Jimi Hendrix tunes.
- * Kofi’s first live performance was with his father – Ginger Baker – on the UK television show “The Old Grey Whistle Test”; he’s been playing before the public ever since.
- * In the early 80’s, Kofi and his father played drum duets throughout Europe; amazing audiences with their complex African rythms.
- * Kofi has also toured with John Ethridge (Soft Machine), gigged in London with Steve Waller (Manfred Mann), and with Randy California (Spirit).
- * He has also toured Europe with Steve Marriot’s Humble Pie.
