JOHN WAITE is the legendary English singer who scored his biggest hit in 1984 with the song, “Missing You”. He is also known for his time as the lead singer and bassist for bands The Babys and Bad English. The Babys scored two Billboard Hot 100 hits with “Isn’t It Time” and “Every Time I Think of You”. The group toured and recorded for five years before disbanding in 1980.

In 1982, Waite launched his solo career with his debut album, Ignition. His second album, No Brakes, was a top 10 Billboard album due to the success of “Missing You”. The album knocked Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got To Do With It” out of the #1 slot, and Turner later recorded and released her own version of “Missing You”.

Waite later teamed up with Jonathan Caine, Ricky Philips, Neal Schon, and Deen Castronovo to form the supergroup Bad English in 1988. Their single “When I See You Smile” went to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in 1989. The band went on to record one more album before they broke up in 1992.

Waite’s most recent solo release is titled, Rough and Tumble. It is his tenth studio album, and was released by Frontiers Records. Waite collaborated with Matchbox 20 lead guitarist/songwriter Kyle Cook for much of the album, and Cook also co-produced the album.
